Jaw Crushing
Jaw crushers are used extensively throughout the aggregate and mineral processing industry as a primary crusher, materials are fed through the top of the machine using a feeder and drop into a set of jaws.
There are two vertical sets of jaws, one fixed and the other partially detatched. The unfixed jaw is moved back and forth by a cam or pitman mechanism crushing the material with each stroke.
The jaws are farther apart at the top than at the bottom, forming a tapered chute so that the material is crushed progressively as it travels downward until small enough to escape from the bottom opening. The crushing action is assisted by a weighted flywheel which moves a shaft creating an eccentric motion that causes the closing of the gap.
